We’d like to congratulate Ellie Greenwood for her victory in the Western States 100 Endurance Race last weekend! Ellie crossed the finish line in 17:55, finishing first in the women’s race and 18th overall. The race was an impressive win for the 32-year-old Scotland native; not only was this her first time entering the race but her first 100 mile race as well.

This Saturday morning some 300 runners will gather in Squaw Valley, California for the 37th annual Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. Ultramarathoners, a rare but growing subset of runners known for their pain-seeking, gut-churning, masochistic endeavors (like running 100 mile races) – will have 30 hours to complete the course to win a coveted finishers belt buckle. The race winds it’s way through the Sierra Nevada Mountains on the Western States Trail ending 100 miles away in Auburn, California.
